Antibioticts
Antibiotics are designed to treat bacterial infections and their discovery and development has become a turning point in medicine. They function by eliminating harmful bacteria and providing a chance for an organism to fight the illness further on.
Antibiotics are frequently used synonymously with antibacterials. The name is derived from Greel and means “against” and “life”.
Bacterial infections that are usually treated by antibiotics are the following: tuberculosis, syphilis, salmonella, as well as some meningitis forms. The following conditions are NOT treated by antibiotics: flu and colds, bronchitis, sore throats – they are caused by viruses and are treated with antivirals.
