6-8 glasses of water is considered a daily norm for the maintenance of bodily health. But a person can consider it differently as such an intake is fraught with frequent visits to the restrooms. Actually, as we grow older, we develop a habit of doing without water sometimes during the whole day. At first we feel fine like this, but further on, however, such neglect leads to certain complications and health problems. Out body for the most part consists of water and therefore it needs the spent supplies being restored.

We have 92% of water as a part of blood, bones have 22% of water, 75% is in the brain and the muscles. So, whether you like it or not 65-75% of our organism is water. Every cell has water in it. Toxic substances are washed away from the kidneys with the help of water; blood pressure is controlled; eyes, mouth and nasal passages are moistened; the whole body is either cooled or protected depending on what it needs; sweat, tears, and saliva cannot be produced without water. It also helps to lubricate joints and acts as a shock absorber that buffer the organs of the body.

But it is not simply that because the blood volume, which is responsible for the energy level, is supported by water intake. Your concentration and reaction time improve. The calories are burned more effectively. Excess of sodium is also eliminated with the help of water. Moreover, your skin becomes better, smoother, and less wrinkled.

Therefore do not let yourself be dehydrated. Your organism needs water and a lot. Use fresh pure water. This is a best way out. Tea, coffee, sodas are ok but they use more bodily water to process than thy actually provide and therefore causing dehydration. If you want to look beautiful, choose water.

Water weight represents an additional amount of weight that appears due to water retention. That is why people sometimes feel sort of swelled and their toes, fingers, wrists, and ankles experience in tumescence. But, actually, this problem is easily helped.

The remedy is simple – water. If you want to get rid of water weight drink water. Drink more water than you usually do. Hereby you will let your organism aware that there is no need to keep the water stored as dehydration is unlikely. Eight glasses of water a day will make what your diets are unable to do. Another recommendation is to drink long before you feel thirst.

You can drink tea, juice and etc. but keep in mind that there is nothing to be compared with water. If you get tired of pure water try options like flavored one or water with lime or lemon. The only things that should be either way refrained from are sodas. Surely, you do not need any unneeded sugars, carbohydrates and stuff the like into you organism.

Another useful recommendation is to reduce your salt intake. Salt contains sodium and is responsible for the fact that your body stores water and you gain weight increasingly. Therefore abstain from all the foods that can increase your sodium intake. This directly refers to chips, meats of certain kind, and definitely snack foods.

Moreover, start moving more frequently. No-salt-and-more-water program will not be effective on its own without physical activity. Make some simple workouts your daily routine; start jogging or swimming – this will make a great change. Not only you will lose water weight, but the one caused by the excess of fat, too.

The most important thing is to keep going if you started. Be persistent and patient and the results will not be disappointing.

Edema, or fluid retention, is a condition when water is gathered in the body and is able to influence the work of organs and tissues. The most frequently affected parts and organs are legs, hands and eyes. The effect of such water accumulation and retention can be enfeebling in some people.

Swollen ankles are a normal experience for almost every person. But, although, the condition usually looks the same, it frequently has different reasons. Here are enumerated some of them.

Swollen ankles are the most frequent case after sitting for too long (i.e. in a long flights or bus-tours) and also standing for too long. In the former case the muscles are not enabled into any action and therefore do not pump blood to the heart; in the latter case gravitation makes fluid stay in the lower part of the legs, which makes them swell.

Premenstrual syndrome or pregnancy can also cause water retention. Excess of fluid in the organism is evoked by the hormonal change and also due to hypertension as well. Another possible reason in such a condition is the activity of estrogen contained in birth control pills.

Chronic venous insufficiency can lead to water retention. This happens when vein valves get weakened and are unable to pump blood to the heart, which initiates retention.

Medication administration triggers edema as well. Especially this refers to the following drugs: antidepressants, corticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, hypertension and diabetes medicines.

Heart, kidney and liver diseases, ankle and rheumatoid arthritis, also cardiomyopathy and gout can be a reason of fluid retention in the organism.

Any type of injury to the ankle or shin bone is able to lead to edema, and, possibly, infection afterwards.

Insufficient activity, lack of exercise is a definite reason of fluid retention. The body needs workouts in order that all its parts work properly and do not become stuck. When you train you help leg veins t pump blood back to the heart and prevent water retention.

Excess of sodium intake and insufficient intake of proteins can cause the condition as well. Protein deficiency will lead to attraction of water from the tissues back, which in turn, will evoke water retention.

In order to treat the condition rightly it is essential to find out the real reason that triggers it. A proper diagnosis will help to prescribe the necessary therapy and medications. But you can also take some measures. First of all, your salt intake should be reduced as excess of it will definitely do no good and is most probably fraught with water retention. You may also be prescribed to administer some diuretics; but be very careful with them. Try more exercises and make some changes to your diet. Workouts will strengthen the muscles and prevent the accumulation of fluid and a healthy diet is good in any way.

Mind that a constant condition is a reason to become worried and should not be neglected. If you suffer from water retention for a long time and do not see the obvious reason go and check with the physician. Other symptoms that should be reported to a doctor: decreased urine output, fever and feet that are warm to touch. Do not waste your time as this can be fraught with some serious complications.

In the US a figure that shows people suffering from diabetes is quite eloquent – 24 million. Moreover, half of these diabetics are men. Therefore, the arithmetic is simple: a dozen men out of one hundred will have a diabetes bracelet on the hand; and at least five or six of them will have some medical symbol.

But if all diabetes patient were so purposeful! The majority of them tend to take wearing such things too much personally and refuse to do it point-blank. Actually, thy just do not understand the risk of neglecting alert jewelry. The latter has got actual power of preventing fatal outcomes and this should be obvious to for these jewelry haters.

This prejudice is very strong among some men who are very resistant to any type of jewelry and they tend to explain this by the fact that this is women’s territory and men has nothing to do with it unless they want to seem feminine.

But these ideas seem more and more ridiculous because men do like to look after themselves, and this is a fact, and fashion and medical industry has been producing more and more men products that are successfully sold and used.

Of course, everyone is free to decide for himself whether to wear these things or not but there is one more point here. Those men who thing that a simple diabetes bracelet will spoil and somehow mar their masculine appearance let slip of one very important thing. The bracelet is able to safe your life. This simple.

Try to consider the following three common cases that can easily happen to any man:

You can be admitted to hospital and doctors will not provide you with the required treatment simply because they will have no time to discover that your coma is of a diabetic character.

It also can happen that you will appear in a police cell and no one will believe you that you are absolutely sober but ill and therefore no one will hurry to get you the necessary treatment.

And, eventually, provided your doctor has no data about your medical history and states a wrong diagnosis, there is a great risk of treatment with wrong medications.

All the aforementioned cases can potentially lead to death; thus it’s up to you to decide whether to try the alert jewelry on or not, but perhaps, with the certain risk of your life. A bracelet or a neck chain is a small yield that will, probably, will save your life once.

The beginning of diabetes is well described in medical researches and it is known how it usually begins. But, nevertheless, one should be careful as the symptoms define the onset of some other illness as well.

Diabetes symptoms are commonly the following: extreme thirstiness, excessive urination, abrupt loss of weight, blurred vision, and a constant feeling of languor and fatigue. These are common symptoms and they can as well as cannot show up. Anyway, no one is protected from it.

Diabetes is a condition when a body cannot handle the glucose in the blood stream. There are two possible consequences: either the body produces not enough insulin and glucose is not converted into energy; or there is sufficient amount of insulin but for some reason the body cannot use it. Both cases are fraught with excess of insulin in the blood stream and it is harmful for the body.

There are two different types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. The former is also called juvenile diabetes but not because of the age definition. It shows its symptoms in late teens, although, generally. The later, or the “adult” type, shows (if it actually does) in early twenties, but nowadays the tendency has moved to an earlier age indicators. The most triggering things for the latter are diet and obesity with foods consumed getting worse and worse and people get fatter and fatter.

Apart from the above mentioned easily observed diabetes signs there are also medical symptoms. Obesity is the first in the line. The second is hypertension. It is directly connected with the risk of diabetes development. Another symptom of possible diabetes presence is high fat levels in the blood; and etc. Actually, if some of these signs were found in you it does not mean that you have diabetes in the first place, but it is still recommended that certain diabetes tests should be made to be sure.

Again, diabetes will not necessarily show any definite symptoms and therefore it is recommended that your blood sugar was tested from time to time. This particularly refers to patients with family history of diabetes or those who are in high-risk groups.

Childhood obesity is frequently underestimated but it is a problem nowadays and it cannot be neglected any more.

In the US the statistics is such that about 32%of children and teenagers are either obese or overweight. Moreover, these are kids between 6 and 11 years of age and those between 12 and 19 who constitute 20% and 12% accordingly.

There has been written a number of articles on the account of children health in this respect. The sad fact is that by the time a child is 3 years of age he or she has already developed fatty deposits in the arteries. Usually, nothing is done and lifestyle is not changed, so, consequently, by the time these kids are 12 the hardening of arteries in the majority of them has already get started. In some kids with weight problems or high cholesterol levels the artery walls resemble the ones of a person over 40. Thus, we are aiming to grow the generation who will not be able to outlive their parents.

Moreover, obese children also show higher levels of the clotting factor fibrinogen and also ten times higher levels of the inflammation marker C-reactive protein already in the age of seven. It simply means that, even if children do not show any signs of upcoming heart disease, having normal blood pressure, they are already in a high-risk group.

Therefore it is important not to take a laissez-faire attitude towards the problem and stop thinking that after our baby grows up all the fat will go away and a slim and slender teenager will appear. Those parents whose children experience weigh problems should take certain measures. Some advices as the following ones are quite effective if put into practice:

Snacks after dinner should not be arranged after 8 pm. This should become a rule.

While doing homework with kids make small breaks about 4 minutes and fill them with some sort of physical exercise.

Make it a rule that meals should be eaten only in dinner areas like kitchen, dinner-room or else but not in bed and around the house.

Take your kids on every walk with your dog or inspire on any outdoor activity but do not let them sit in front of TV with a pack of chips.

Your family activities should take place every weekend, whatever it is. Take your kids skating, skiing, riding bikes or hiking, everything is better than TV and computer games.

Some parents neglect the fact of their kids’ obesity but it is important that they were shown and examined by a professional doctor. Perhaps, an overweight kid will need a weight-management program.

There are other recommendations also. They refer not only to a lifestyle of the kid with a problem but to the whole family activity and health. So, it is suggested that everyone should eat 5 vegetables and fruit daily. TV should be watched not longer than 2 hours a day. 1 hour should be spent on any physical activity; and sugar-sweetened beverages should be crossed out from the daily allowance completely. This is known as the 5, 2, 1, 0 plan and is usually prescribed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Every parent should understand that obesity in kids is not something that should be trifled with and if doctors say that it is a problem it should be treated as such and attended.

It is normal for a person to be interested in how organs work and, moreover, it is important to understand it. The more we know the more attentive we are to out health and the more we take care of it. There are three main constituents of a good health: good food, sound sleep, and regular exercises. They are things that can make wonders and this also refers to out heart. This is the major body organ and it is vital to keep it sound and safe as its proper work will not allow any disease happen ruin your life.

The heart, veins, and arteries of the body represent the cardiovascular system. Our heart works by supplying blood, nutrition, and oxygen to all organs of our body. In order for the heart to function properly and be strong and powerful it requires regular exercises. In general, all organs require training to be fit and strengthening the muscles does only good to any organ. Chronic heart troubles originate from certain lifestyles when a person’s diet is poor; there is little or no exercise but a lot of stress. Fortunately, there are ways to keep a heart healthy without the help of medications. Of, course, they will not cure your heart if it is ill but are good as a preventive measure.

So, first of all you can try some aerobic exercises. They are usually simple and not hard to practice. And they are very beneficial for your heart health. Or you can just try walking – it is pleasant and in an unnoticeable way will make your cardio system more powerful. Moreover, it does not require much effort and can be easily stuck into a daily schedule. Not only your heart will benefit from a half-and-hour refreshing walk but also your overall state will improve and your mood, too. If you cannot spare time for simple walking do it while you do shopping or other chores.

For those who prefer more serious exercises gym is a good opportunity. There is equipment and professional trainers will supervise you and recommend what is more suitable for your condition. There are plenty of good cardio exercises which strengthen the cardiovascular system and help to keep fit. You can try bikes, or treadmills, or rowers, also ski and elliptical machines. For those who do not find the idea of gym appealing there is an option to train at home.

Eventually, there is yoga. No other exercise can bring you that much peace and provide you with such health. Yoga helps you to fight all the illnesses you have without the necessity to try too hard. Through the improvised breathing system, breathing asanas, all your organs improve as more oxygen will be received by your body. You can try yoga alone or together with aerobic exercises but anyway, if done regularly, it can make a great improvement to your health.

Coronary artery disease frequently leads to death alongside with congestive heart failure. The illness has got another name – ischemic heart disease and it is the most frequent condition that leads to morbidity in middle and elderly aged men.

There are following reasons that can lead to the condition.First of all it is high cholesterol levels in the blood. Those who suffer from the condition should be very careful in order not to develop coronary artery disease.

Smokers should also be careful as it is a second high-risk condition for triggering the condition. When you smoke the levels of nicotine and carbon monoxide increase in the blood, which can cause c development.

Severe hypertension can also become a reason of coronary artery disease development. Other risky and probably triggering factors are diabetes, also lack of physical activity, obesity, a high fat diet and some others.

Coronary artery disease is first of all distinguished by the appearance of angina. This is a condition of acute substernal pain evoked by reversible myocardial ischemia. Inner side of left arm, shoulder and back usually experience pain that can be either beating or choking. The condition is also frequently followed by sweating, uneasiness and fear. If those symptoms are observed, then it is very probable that arterial blockage in the heart takes place.

Other symptoms include chronic ischemic cardiomyopathy, acute myocardial infarction and etc.

The condition is fraught with the following complications: acute left heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias and congestive failure.

Coronary artery disease is treated by the certain means. First of all a change in a lifestyle is necessary. Quit smoking, if you do, refrain from fatty foods and practice more exercises. Angina is usually treated by administering nitrate in the form of nitroglycerine sublingually. Beta blockers and calcium channel blockers are also used in the treatment.

We use our feet a lot and therefore should treat them carefully. Neglect and lack of attention lead to different consequences and fungal infections are not excluded. Fungus grows on the skin of the foot and therefore causes the infection. The affected area then becomes red or black with flaky skin that resembles dandruff in some way. And moreover, fungal infections tend to grow rapidly. It is dermophytes, a certain type of fungi that causes the infection on the feet.

Fungal foot infections are quite frequent: it happens in 10-20% people. They are not considered dangerous but should be treated immediately still. Fungi grow and multiply in wet and dark places and therefore avoid wearing shoes that make you sweat. In general, be careful with your feet; do not allow them to sweat excessively as any small scratch or an opening will give easy way to an infection and fungi will grow immensely fast. If your skin on the feet gets flaky, excessively dry or patchy it is a good reason to get consult a doctor. The healthcare provider will help to state a diagnosis and prescribe a necessary treatment. But the best thing is prevention therefore follow these recommendations:

Feet should be always kept clean and therefore wash them regularly especially if you have been out. Apply enough soap and scrubs in order to remove all the dirt and dead skin as well. If you have to wear shoes the entire time try to find opportunity to remove them every three hours in order to give feet some air and get rid them of all the excessive moisture. It is also important to keep feet dry therefore wipe them dry and make sure they are well-hydrated. And, finally, abstain from going anywhere barefoot if it is not out in the nature. Swimming pools, changing rooms, offices, etc. are the best places to get infection.

Be very careful with your feet and keep them clean and nice every day. Then you will make sure no fungal infection will be able to affect them!
