In the US a figure that shows people suffering from diabetes is quite eloquent – 24 million. Moreover, half of these diabetics are men. Therefore, the arithmetic is simple: a dozen men out of one hundred will have a diabetes bracelet on the hand; and at least five or six of them will have some medical symbol.

But if all diabetes patient were so purposeful! The majority of them tend to take wearing such things too much personally and refuse to do it point-blank. Actually, thy just do not understand the risk of neglecting alert jewelry. The latter has got actual power of preventing fatal outcomes and this should be obvious to for these jewelry haters.

This prejudice is very strong among some men who are very resistant to any type of jewelry and they tend to explain this by the fact that this is women’s territory and men has nothing to do with it unless they want to seem feminine.

But these ideas seem more and more ridiculous because men do like to look after themselves, and this is a fact, and fashion and medical industry has been producing more and more men products that are successfully sold and used.

Of course, everyone is free to decide for himself whether to wear these things or not but there is one more point here. Those men who thing that a simple diabetes bracelet will spoil and somehow mar their masculine appearance let slip of one very important thing. The bracelet is able to safe your life. This simple.

Try to consider the following three common cases that can easily happen to any man:

You can be admitted to hospital and doctors will not provide you with the required treatment simply because they will have no time to discover that your coma is of a diabetic character.

It also can happen that you will appear in a police cell and no one will believe you that you are absolutely sober but ill and therefore no one will hurry to get you the necessary treatment.

And, eventually, provided your doctor has no data about your medical history and states a wrong diagnosis, there is a great risk of treatment with wrong medications.

All the aforementioned cases can potentially lead to death; thus it’s up to you to decide whether to try the alert jewelry on or not, but perhaps, with the certain risk of your life. A bracelet or a neck chain is a small yield that will, probably, will save your life once.

The beginning of diabetes is well described in medical researches and it is known how it usually begins. But, nevertheless, one should be careful as the symptoms define the onset of some other illness as well.

Diabetes symptoms are commonly the following: extreme thirstiness, excessive urination, abrupt loss of weight, blurred vision, and a constant feeling of languor and fatigue. These are common symptoms and they can as well as cannot show up. Anyway, no one is protected from it.

Diabetes is a condition when a body cannot handle the glucose in the blood stream. There are two possible consequences: either the body produces not enough insulin and glucose is not converted into energy; or there is sufficient amount of insulin but for some reason the body cannot use it. Both cases are fraught with excess of insulin in the blood stream and it is harmful for the body.

There are two different types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. The former is also called juvenile diabetes but not because of the age definition. It shows its symptoms in late teens, although, generally. The later, or the “adult” type, shows (if it actually does) in early twenties, but nowadays the tendency has moved to an earlier age indicators. The most triggering things for the latter are diet and obesity with foods consumed getting worse and worse and people get fatter and fatter.

Apart from the above mentioned easily observed diabetes signs there are also medical symptoms. Obesity is the first in the line. The second is hypertension. It is directly connected with the risk of diabetes development. Another symptom of possible diabetes presence is high fat levels in the blood; and etc. Actually, if some of these signs were found in you it does not mean that you have diabetes in the first place, but it is still recommended that certain diabetes tests should be made to be sure.

Again, diabetes will not necessarily show any definite symptoms and therefore it is recommended that your blood sugar was tested from time to time. This particularly refers to patients with family history of diabetes or those who are in high-risk groups.

Diabetes is a complex and serious illness affecting different parts of the organism and it influences sexual life of a person as well. Diabetes functions by affecting body neurological system and nerves; and everything that refers to sexual sensations is connected to nerves – therefore diabetes is able to evoke so many sexual dysfunctions.

Erectile dysfunction is the most common condition in men with diabetes. ED means that a man has problems either achieving or maintaining an erection, or both. Another frequent complaint is premature ejaculation. But any sexual problem taken alone is one thing; another thing is that it happens to married couples and just couples and is fraught with additional complications.

Not only a person suffering from diabetes has a life-long chronic disease to cope with but also troubles of sexual character are now added to it. Further frustration develops and can even lead to emotional or psychological dysfunctions. In its turn, depression and nervousness do not help but even impair the condition and a man feels like he’s disabled. The worst part of it is that these things are interconnected and the one results in the other and vice versa; and it seems that this vicious circle cannot be broken.

Spermatic fluid reflux is one more frequent complaint from diabetics. The condition means that instead of orgasm and the spermatic fluid being released outside it is brought back into the bladder. Loss of desire and sex drive is also common in the condition of diabetes as well as lack of stamina and easy fatigue.

Bit it is not only men who are affected in a sexual sense. Women suffering from diabetes complain of frigidity and loss of desire and sexual interest, also diabetes can cause dryness of the vagina.

Nevertheless if you have diabetes and start to feel that something is getting wrong with your sexual life it is not the reason to despair. The condition can be helped should you have a little belief and desire.

Diabetes is a condition connected with the metabolism. The food we eat usually breaks down into glucose and this is the major energy source for our organism.

Glucose enters the bloodstream after digestion and is used there by cells. But for this purposes insulin is needed. It is a hormone that is developed in pancreas. In a normal healthy person pancreas produces the required amount of insulin as soon as we start eating. But the whole thing gets different in a person with diabetes. Pancreas has two possible patterns of behaviour: it either develops no or very little insulin, or in the other case the cells reject the insulin produced. As a result glucose accumulates in the blood, enters the urine and leaves the body with it. This way a body looses the major energy source.

Diabetes can be differentiated into three types: type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes

Type 1 diabetes refers to autoimmune disease. Under this term we understand a condition when the immune system that usually struggles with infections starts to attack some part of the body. In case of diabetes the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas are attacked and ruined. There is no insulin produced and a person becomes dependant on the daily intake of insulin for the rest of his or her life.

The exact reason of such immune system behaviour is not known yet but autoimmune, genetic, and environmental factors, and viruses are suspected. Type 1 diabetes has the following symptoms: constant hunger, increased thirst and urination, weight loss, vision problems, and exhaustion. It is a very serious condition and if neglected can end up with diabetic coma (diabetic ketoacidosis).

Type 2 diabetes is a very frequent condition. It can come as a result of age; weight problems (obesity) is the most wide-spread reason, especially if a person leads inactive way of life; family history of diabetes can trigger the condition as well as history of gestational diabetes, and also – ethnicity.

In the case of type 2 diabetes there is sufficient amount of insulin produced by pancreas but the body does not use it properly causing insulin resistance. In this situation when insulin is not required its production decreases and, again, glucose accumulates in the blood and major energy source is wasted.

In opposition to type 1 diabetes the symptoms of type 2 diabetes show up slowly and progressively. In some cases no symptoms are experiences by a patient; but the most frequent are easy and frequent susceptibility to infections, fatigue or nausea, frequent urination and thirst, weight loss, vision problems, and slow healing.

The last type of diabetes is called gestational diabetes and it is characteristic for women in a state of pregnancy (especially of the following ethnicity: African Americans, American Indians, Hispanic Americans); a family history of diabetes in women is also a triggering factor. Frequently gestational diabetes leads to type 2 diabetes in women in older age.

Under diabetes is understood a serious chronic condition when a person’s body looses the ability to convert sugar into energy. It is fraught with such complications as heart disease, blindness, and others. Diabetes can happen in any age and has the symptoms that are so vague and indefinite that a lot of affected people do not realize that they actually are.

The most common symptoms of the condition are increasing thirst; also appetite (and result in changes in weight); frequent headaches, often accompanied with fatigue and vision problems; at last oversensitivity to infections that manifest in slow healing of wounds, appearance of yeast infections and itching.

The chances that you can develop this condition depend on some factors some of which you can control while others are not in your power. To the former refer a state of being overweight with hypertension and abnormal cholesterol and blood fats levels, also sedentary lifestyle. The latter attribute to your age, your race or ethnicity, and the fact of having family history of this illness.

This condition is not characteristic in children, though recently there are reported more and more cases of children with diabetes; the risk is even bigger provided a child is overweight and lacks activity.

The condition is diagnosed in a very simple way. There is a special test – fasting plasma glucose test – and it measures the amount of sugar in your blood after 8 hours of fasting. Generally 2 measurements are carried out and then the diagnosis is stated. Normal fasting blood glucose is between 70 and 100 mg/dL. If it is 126 mg/dL or higher then it is diabetes.

As it has already been mentioned the condition is fraught with complications. Diabetes can lead to development of kidney disease or failure and leave a person dependant of dialysis for the entire life; it can also evoke heart disease and lead to stroke or attack; it may lead also to blindness in some cases and this condition will be irreversible; feet are often get affected: they loose sensitivity and sores and gangrene develop. Other complications are also possible.

Though, no matter how serious the condition, it can be helped in some way; or better to say, relieved. The first thing is diet, good and healthy. Secondly, it is exercising. Even half-an-hour of brisk walking will make a difference to the way you feel. Then, do not forget to take all the necessary medications; and finally, as a lot of patients eventually develop “beta-cell failure” you may need insulin injections or an insulin pump.

But the best thing in the world is prevention. If you take care of your health there will be nothing to cure. So, be careful about the foods you eat, do not be lazy and make regular workouts, control your weight and if you have any worrying sensations go and check for diabetes beforehand.
