Childhood obesity is frequently underestimated but it is a problem nowadays and it cannot be neglected any more.

In the US the statistics is such that about 32%of children and teenagers are either obese or overweight. Moreover, these are kids between 6 and 11 years of age and those between 12 and 19 who constitute 20% and 12% accordingly.

There has been written a number of articles on the account of children health in this respect. The sad fact is that by the time a child is 3 years of age he or she has already developed fatty deposits in the arteries. Usually, nothing is done and lifestyle is not changed, so, consequently, by the time these kids are 12 the hardening of arteries in the majority of them has already get started. In some kids with weight problems or high cholesterol levels the artery walls resemble the ones of a person over 40. Thus, we are aiming to grow the generation who will not be able to outlive their parents.

Moreover, obese children also show higher levels of the clotting factor fibrinogen and also ten times higher levels of the inflammation marker C-reactive protein already in the age of seven. It simply means that, even if children do not show any signs of upcoming heart disease, having normal blood pressure, they are already in a high-risk group.

Therefore it is important not to take a laissez-faire attitude towards the problem and stop thinking that after our baby grows up all the fat will go away and a slim and slender teenager will appear. Those parents whose children experience weigh problems should take certain measures. Some advices as the following ones are quite effective if put into practice:

Snacks after dinner should not be arranged after 8 pm. This should become a rule.

While doing homework with kids make small breaks about 4 minutes and fill them with some sort of physical exercise.

Make it a rule that meals should be eaten only in dinner areas like kitchen, dinner-room or else but not in bed and around the house.

Take your kids on every walk with your dog or inspire on any outdoor activity but do not let them sit in front of TV with a pack of chips.

Your family activities should take place every weekend, whatever it is. Take your kids skating, skiing, riding bikes or hiking, everything is better than TV and computer games.

Some parents neglect the fact of their kids’ obesity but it is important that they were shown and examined by a professional doctor. Perhaps, an overweight kid will need a weight-management program.

There are other recommendations also. They refer not only to a lifestyle of the kid with a problem but to the whole family activity and health. So, it is suggested that everyone should eat 5 vegetables and fruit daily. TV should be watched not longer than 2 hours a day. 1 hour should be spent on any physical activity; and sugar-sweetened beverages should be crossed out from the daily allowance completely. This is known as the 5, 2, 1, 0 plan and is usually prescribed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Every parent should understand that obesity in kids is not something that should be trifled with and if doctors say that it is a problem it should be treated as such and attended.

It is normal for a person to be interested in how organs work and, moreover, it is important to understand it. The more we know the more attentive we are to out health and the more we take care of it. There are three main constituents of a good health: good food, sound sleep, and regular exercises. They are things that can make wonders and this also refers to out heart. This is the major body organ and it is vital to keep it sound and safe as its proper work will not allow any disease happen ruin your life.

The heart, veins, and arteries of the body represent the cardiovascular system. Our heart works by supplying blood, nutrition, and oxygen to all organs of our body. In order for the heart to function properly and be strong and powerful it requires regular exercises. In general, all organs require training to be fit and strengthening the muscles does only good to any organ. Chronic heart troubles originate from certain lifestyles when a person’s diet is poor; there is little or no exercise but a lot of stress. Fortunately, there are ways to keep a heart healthy without the help of medications. Of, course, they will not cure your heart if it is ill but are good as a preventive measure.

So, first of all you can try some aerobic exercises. They are usually simple and not hard to practice. And they are very beneficial for your heart health. Or you can just try walking – it is pleasant and in an unnoticeable way will make your cardio system more powerful. Moreover, it does not require much effort and can be easily stuck into a daily schedule. Not only your heart will benefit from a half-and-hour refreshing walk but also your overall state will improve and your mood, too. If you cannot spare time for simple walking do it while you do shopping or other chores.

For those who prefer more serious exercises gym is a good opportunity. There is equipment and professional trainers will supervise you and recommend what is more suitable for your condition. There are plenty of good cardio exercises which strengthen the cardiovascular system and help to keep fit. You can try bikes, or treadmills, or rowers, also ski and elliptical machines. For those who do not find the idea of gym appealing there is an option to train at home.

Eventually, there is yoga. No other exercise can bring you that much peace and provide you with such health. Yoga helps you to fight all the illnesses you have without the necessity to try too hard. Through the improvised breathing system, breathing asanas, all your organs improve as more oxygen will be received by your body. You can try yoga alone or together with aerobic exercises but anyway, if done regularly, it can make a great improvement to your health. And no doubt, your cardiovascular system will improve as well as your blood pressure and cholesterol levels. And in general, your healthy lifestyle will reduce the risk of any heart troubles.

Coronary artery disease frequently leads to death alongside with congestive heart failure. The illness has got another name – ischemic heart disease and it is the most frequent condition that leads to morbidity in middle and elderly aged men.

There are following reasons that can lead to the condition.First of all it is high cholesterol levels in the blood. Those who suffer from the condition should be very careful in order not to develop coronary artery disease.

Smokers should also be careful as it is a second high-risk condition for triggering the condition. When you smoke the levels of nicotine and carbon monoxide increase in the blood, which can cause c development.

Severe hypertension can also become a reason of coronary artery disease development. Other risky and probably triggering factors are diabetes, also lack of physical activity, obesity, a high fat diet and some others.

Coronary artery disease is first of all distinguished by the appearance of angina. This is a condition of acute substernal pain evoked by reversible myocardial ischemia. Inner side of left arm, shoulder and back usually experience pain that can be either beating or choking. The condition is also frequently followed by sweating, uneasiness and fear. If those symptoms are observed, then it is very probable that arterial blockage in the heart takes place.

Other symptoms include chronic ischemic cardiomyopathy, acute myocardial infarction and etc.

The condition is fraught with the following complications: acute left heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias and congestive failure.

Coronary artery disease is treated by the certain means. First of all a change in a lifestyle is necessary. Quit smoking, if you do, refrain from fatty foods and practice more exercises. Angina is usually treated by administering nitrate in the form of nitroglycerine sublingually. Beta blockers and calcium channel blockers are also used in the treatment.

Unfortunately heart attack is a very frequent situation and it affects about 1 million people in the U.S. annually; and kills almost a half of them.

Another name for a heart attack is a myocardial infarction. This is a very serious condition that occurs when a coronary artery is abruptly blocked by a blood clot in the result of which heart muscle dies. Coronary arteries are responsible for the process of supplying the heart muscle with blood and oxygen. In the situation when this very artery becomes blocked no blood and no oxygen in the necessary amounts can reach the heart muscle and it becomes injured. Furthermore it causes chest pain and the sensation pf pressure. Time for recovery of the heart muscle in this situation is very short – only 20-40 minutes during which the blood flow should be restored; otherwise the heart muscle starts to die and this process is irreversible. After six-eight hours is will be completely dead and replaced by scar tissue.

There are some preconditions for the this to happen. Atherosclerosis is one of them. This is the condition caused by the hardening of the arterial channels and their blockage with cholesterol plaques. In the result it is hard for these narrowed arteries to provide a normal blood flow in the body. Atherosclerosis that affects the brain may lead to vascular dementia or stroke; atherosclerosis that affects legs is fraught with pain while walking or exercising, also leg ulcers, or problematic healing of leg injuries.

Atherosclerosis will not necessarily show up at once and a person can be oblivious of it for years. The condition can start in early teens but actual symptoms show up later with aging and development of atherosclerosis. There are factors that can impair the condition; among them are high cholesterol, hypertension, smoking, diabetes. They are able to considerably complicate the existing state; especially this concerns people with a family history of atherosclerosis.

Coronary atherosclerosis, another name is coronary artery disease, is also able to cause heart failure. This is a type of atherosclerosis that affects coronary arteries and evokes illnesses that can be generally called coronary heart diseases, or CHD (i.e. angina, heart attack, sudden unexpected death, arrhythmia, and, actually, heart failure).

Angina (angina pectoris, chest pain) should be paid additional attention. It happens when there is not enough oxygen and blood supplied to the heart muscle which causes the sensations of pressure and pain. There are differentiated exertional and rest anginas.

Cholesterol plaque may tear a coronary artery surface then a blood clot appears on the surface of the plaque. This leads to a blockage of the blood flow and ends up with a heart attack. Why the tear happens and a clot appears is not known for sure but some researches list smoking or other nicotine exposure, high adrenaline, hypertension and some other mechanical and biochemical forces are probable reasons.

Heart attacks are mostly known to happen between 4:00 and 10:00 in the morning due to the higher blood adrenaline levels released from the adrenal glands at this time. As much as half of the patients who happen to experience a heart attack generally received some warning signals before the attack but due to their mildness and indefinite character they are frequently are not taken into consideration.

Nowadays with the advanced development of different technologies it is easier to predict the risk of appearance of this or that disease and therefore prevent it. This directly refers to cardiovascular diseases. Among other investigations in this field there is a presupposition that a regular cardio workout is highly beneficial.

There are two types of cardio risk factors and they can be classified as those that can be controlled and those that can not be (heredity, gender and age). Thus, if you are a male above 35 years old suffering from problems with blood pressure (more common – hypertension) and bad eating habits and/or having a family history of some cardiovascular illness, then, congratulations, you are in the high-risk group and are very liable to a cardiac illness. Moreover, provided you are prone to anxiety and panic fits, or you smoke the risk becomes even bigger.

The best way out from the appearance in the undesirable condition is to take preventive measures – notably, cardio trainings. They are very helpful when one needs to calm down and get rid of anxiety or eliminate the smoking symptoms. Cardio interval training also helps to handle cholesterol and blood pressure problems and reduce gradually the risk of a heart illness.

This fact has been proved by a great number of investigations and researches that actually showed the connection between a heart illness possibility and cardio trainings. One of the large-scale researches compared bus drivers and people who use public transport on the subject of the liability to heart diseases. The former displayed a much higher percent of cardiovascular illness appearance than the latter who have to move a lot more and walk on foot every day.

This example can be taken as a proof of the benefit of a good cardio workout relative to heart illnesses prevention. Perhaps, it will bring even more use if the exercises are included into a daily exercise (morning) program.

Everybody has heard the term “heart failure” but not everyone knows what it means actually. The condition of heart failure presupposes that the heart is unable to pump the required amount of blood through the body. It is more typical when the left part of the heart is affected but the right one can be as well; or both. Though this does not mean that the heart stops and won’t work any more.

When the left side of the heart is affected the pumping of the oxygen-rich blood to the rest of the body is complicated. In case when the right part is under the influence lungs do not get enough blood.

In the healthy scheme of heart working veins bring blood poor in oxygen from the body to the right side of the heart; then this blood goes through the pulmonary artery to the lungs where it enriches in oxygen; then it returns to the right side of the heart, passes aorta (the largest artery) and then is distributed to all body parts.

But in the case of heart failure the scheme is different. Blood is often backs up to the lungs and there appears the condition when fluid gathers in the feet, ankles, and legs. Therefore shortness of breath and fatigue are common symptoms.

Heart failure is not a condition to be trifled with. Only in the U.S. about 5 million people suffer from it. The illness is fraught with serious complications and can lead to death. The people of high-risk group who are more likely to have this condition are whose over 65 years of age and mostly men. The cases in women are not that rare though they happen in older age – around 70s and 80s.

The condition has other names depending on the specification: congestive heart failure, systolic heart failure, diastolic heart failure, left-sided heart failure, or right-sided heart failure.
